Midwifery Experience

I qualified as a Midwife from Kings College London in 2008, going on to work at St Thomas’ Hospital for many years. Here I gained experience in all areas of Midwifery. Whilst working as a clinical Midwife on the wards and out in the community, I was also part of the research team, working as lead Midwife on a number of large clinical trials.

I later went on to set up my own business and practiced as an independent Midwife around the Kent and London area, taking on a caseload of wonderful families and even delivering a baby at home through the lock down.

During my later years in the hospital, I worked in the A&E department for Maternity. Here I witnessed women with a huge range of pregnancy complications and my drive to help women improve their symptoms holistically was born.

Lactation Consultant Experience

Fulfilling a passion to help women breastfeed, I joined the community breastfeeding team as a lead community breastfeeding Midwife and in 2015 I qualified as a Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). I was helping up to 70 breastfeeding women each week, as well as working in the ‘Tongue-tie’ clinic at The Evelina Children’s Hospital.

Alongside this job, I was on the team of an antenatal group in Chiswick, ‘The Happy Birth Club’ teaching the breastfeeding class and working privately to support mother’s in their homes. We proudly had not far from a100% breastfeeding success rate, for those who chose to breastfeed. You can find my chapter on breastfeeding in ‘The Happy Birth Book’ by Bev Turner and Pam Wild.

Studying lactation enlightened me to the power of nutrition, as I worked with natures most complex and powerful foods - colostrum and breast milk. I frequently researched nutrition and supplements to help breastfeeding women overcome problems, such as thrush, mastitis and allergies in babies, which lead me to train as a Nutritional Therapist.

Nutritional Therapy Experience

Nutritional therapy takes a holistic, science-based approach to health, using a functional medicine model to uncover and address the root cause of symptoms. It combines nutrition, supplements, herbs, and lifestyle practices to restore balance in the body. Functional testing provides insight into biochemical imbalances, while a whole-person perspective—considering diet, stress, past illness, and trauma—helps make sense of current symptoms. This natural approach complements conventional medicine, offering a well-rounded path to better health.

I love Nutritional Therapy as its main aim is to educate and help people understand how their body works. When you learn what triggers symptoms, you are able to help yourself by making healthier diet and lifestyle choices, leading to improved health and longevity.

I studied Nutritional Therapy at the College of Naturopathic Medicine (CNM) qualifying with a distinction. However my learning never stops as nutrition is an evolving topic. I am consistently continuing to read new research, attend seminars and undertake new courses and training to broaden my knowledge.

Nutrigenomics Counsellor Experience

Nutrigenomics is the study of how nutrition affects the way our genes behave. This new and very exciting topic is at the forefront of evolving science. Knowing your genetic blueprint is the key to understanding how your body functions, your strengths, weaknesses and even explains personality traits.

The reason nutrigenomics is so integral during pregnancy, breastfeeding and postpartum, is that this is a time when a woman’s body has an increased demand for nutrition and of course is under more stress. Genes, which would normally function effectively become more strained, leading to nutrient deficiencies in the woman and sometimes babies too.

After training to become a Nutrigenomics Counsellor I developed ‘MyNutriGen’. Collating all my knowledge and experience, I offer women the power to nourish and flourish during pregnancy, postpartum and breastfeeding. I’ve created programmes with built in DNA testing, which help women understand more about their body’s. Knowing your genetics can take away some of the guess work whilst investigating the root cause of symptoms. DNA doesn’t give a definitive answer and is in context of many other areas, such as current diet and lifestyle, family history of disease, health as a baby and child. However, it adds a vital piece of the puzzle, giving you a unique a personalised health plan, which may just be the answer you’re looking for.

Maternity Nurse Experience

After leaving Midwifery I worked as a Maternity Nurse and Night Nanny, whilst building my business as a Nutritional Therapist. I worked with, lived with and met the most incredible families. During this journey I gained true insight into living and caring for newborn babies. I supported parents in these early months, helping them figure out their new little baby’s behaviour, feeding, sleeping, cries and discomforts.

I supported parents who’s baby’s were breastfed, bottle fed and mixed fed. I helped new mother’s navigate their personal recovery and mental wellbeing following birth and going into the new world of parenthood.

Using gentle settling techniques and baby massage, of which I had trained in back when I ran the breastfeeding classes, I helped parents to calm and settle their baby’s to sleep. I educated parents on knowing how much milk their baby needed and when they were full and hungry.

Bringing all this experience together I created an add on service for my clients - a bespoke one-off home visit anytime up until 6 months postpartum. Combining all my experience and knowledge offering a truly holistic one-stop-shop for feeding, sleep, recovery, nutrition and mental wellbeing, both for mother and baby.
